About Welch Genealogy
Welcome to the Welch page!
This page is only as good as the input we receive from others. Please submit pictures, stories anything that will make it wonderful for all of us. Also it would be great if anyone had some family recipes to begin a cookbook to pass on. We have full access of this page until April of 2008. At that point we are in need of donations to keep this page running.

NEW: PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT ALL THE BOYS OF JAMES WELCH HAD BLUE EYES. We have some pictures without the name of all the people. If you could identify any of the people please let me know.
ALSO THERE IS SOME MILITARY INFORMATION TO CHECK OUT THE PICTURES.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

This page would not be possible without the hard work of my mother. Please be kind and give her thanks. Sandi: sandi425@comcast.net

**I have paid for this page for the year. This current membership expires April
 22, 2008.**

Donations are wonderful.

*Special thanks to the relatives I have yet to meet that have contributed so much to the page. We plan to have your photos uploaded soon.*

Article about Uriah Welch in Lake County, Michigan
Uriah N. Welch?Settled on the south half of the southeast quarter section 36, Dover township, in the Winter of 1870. The soil is clay loam, with about 66 acres improved; good spring water. Has a log house and two log barns. There are some 200 apple trees (some bearing), and plum, pear, cherry and small fruits. Keeps 4 horses, 2 oxen, 5 cows, 10 young cattle, 6 hogs and poultry; and in 1878, had 13 acres wheat, 8 acres corn, 2 acres buckwheat, 3 acres potatoes (over 400 bushels), ½ acre beans, 33 acres timothy and 5 acres tame pasture. Sowed 7 acres wheat, last Fall. Mr. W. also, owns the north half of the northeast quarter section 1, Ellsworth township, which with 40 acres in Leroy township, Osceola county, makes 200 acres. It is probably safe to say that he has the leading farm of that locality.

Article about James Welch in Lake County, Michigan
James H. Welch?Took up a homestead on the west half of the southwest quarter of Section 24, Dover township, in the Fall of 1869. The soil is sand and clay loam, with beech and maple timber; no better land in the State, probably. He has forty acres under improvement; a log house, log barn; and has a nursery of some 500 apple trees. Has some cherry trees, with currant and strawberry. For shade, he is letting a portion of the original forest trees stand. Keeps a cow. In 1878 he had 1 ½ acres wheat, 7 acres oats, 2 acres buckwheat, 2 acres potatoes, 3 acres rye, and 10 acres of timothy and clover hay. About five years ago he set out 600 strawberry plants?the latter part of October?and the following season harvested six bushels of fine berries from the patch. Mr. W. has excellent water on his place, there being four or five springs, with running streams from two of them. The lay of the land is slightly rolling.
